Schedule
Note: Fiction Fix is an online-only journal.

Fiction Fix is moving to a quarterly format!  Our winter issue will be out in a few weeks (we're a little behind as we adjust to the more rigorous schedule) and are currently reading for our spring issue (submissions are closed)

We are pleased to announce our inaugural Novella Novella issue, featuring one prose novella (edited by Mark Ari) and one graphic novella (edited by Russell Turney).  Submissions are open until May 1, 2013, and the issue will launch in the summer.

Guidelines

Please use our submission manager for all submissions.  Please include author's/artist's name and email address.

We accept simultaneous submissions; if your story is submitted elsewhere, please withdraw it from submittable and indicate that your story has been accepted elsewhere.

Multiple submissions: we will review no more than 2 works by an author at a time; please wait to submit more stories until after you have received a reply regarding your current submissions.

Response time: we are honored to receive your work, and try diligently to respond within a3 month period.  After that time, you are welcome to query editor@fictionfix.net.

Fiction and Graphic Literature

All short fiction, short short fiction, novel excerpts, novellas, graphic novellas, and short graphic literature are considered for publication. We don't currently have a strict cap on the number of pages, but it is uncommon for us to accept stories that are over 25 (double-spaced) pages or short graphic literature that is over 15 facing pages.  Novellas should range between 15K-40K words and graphic novellas should range between 30-75 facing pages. These should be submitted in their respective categories on submittable.

Artwork

We accept artwork of all kinds, including paintings, photographs, digital and mixed media art, etc. Please include up to fifteen images, preferably in one submission either as multiple image files or 1 PDF or zip file (in the case of a PDF submission, we will need high resolution image files after acceptance) We ask that artists send a specific set of images that they feel will cohere well within a literary journal and represent their artistic vision.

Please note, all stories and artwork should be submitted via the submission manager; submissions received in other ways cannot be reviewed.

Awards

One story per issue is chosen by the editor-in-chief as recipient of The Editor's Choice Award and one (or two in the case of a tie) story is chosen per issue by secret vote by all other Fiction Fix staff members as recipient of the Readers' Choice AwardWinners are nominated for the Pushcart Prize and for inclusion in The Best American Short Stories (as long as they meet all criteria for nomination), as well as other awards. We regret that there is no monetary award associated with awards or publication at Fiction Fix at this time, though in addition to publication, we are dedicated to nominating our authors for awards and promoting any new publications by our authors to our community.

The Gypsy Sachet Award in Letters & Autobiography

No one knows better than writers how grueling a task it can be to write a cover letter and biography to attach to your story submissions.  And certainly no one knows just how enjoyable these collateral submission materials can sometimes be than the staff of a literary journal.  Fiction Fix recognizes particularly creative, beautiful, funny, and poetic letter & biography submissions with this new and unique award.  Gypsy Sachet Award winners are published in our fall issues.  All submission cover letters & bios are considered for the award (no extra submission is needed) though authors and artists are welcome to opt-out.  There is no specific word count -- we're interested in your one line or one page (or longer) letters & bios.  Please note that winning the Gypsy Sachet Award does not imply acceptance or rejection of the main submission.
